Destroys targets at distance up to 8 km: Zgurets tells about US VAMPIRE anti-missile system
Ukraine is preparing to receive new VAMPIRE systems from the United States, which have a modern guidance system and can destroy targets at a distance of up to 8 km
Serhiy Zgurets, Defense Express Director and military expert, told Espreso.
"The air defense link consists of many areas of cooperation with our partners. One of them is VAMPIRE, which provides for the destruction of enemy targets at a distance of up to 5-8 km using a guidance system with control in various systems, including laser illumination. They are a new development that is adapted to such mobile platforms used by Ukrainian troops and can be used primarily to fight the Shaheds," he emphasized. According to the expert, Ukraine has already received these systems before with missiles of a different modification.
"The project was carried out in the format of a new development at American enterprises. I think that despite the importance of this area, the least important thing is that Ukraine and the United States are currently implementing a number of other air defense projects. When all the necessary documentation was handed over to Ukrainian enterprises, which happened yesterday in the format of signing these agreements, they will adapt American missiles to complexes, including Buk, which actually have a limited supply of missiles now," Zgurets explained.
- In January of this year, the American company L3Harris Technologies received a $40 million contract from the Pentagon to supply Ukraine with 14 pickup truck-based missile launchers.
