Southern grouping of Russian troops will soon begin to 'suffocate' - military expert
Military expert Petro Chernyk believes that the strike on the Chonhar bridge is the first step to seriously cut off the Russian forces' logistics
He said this on Espreso TV.
“The enemy forces are very well aware that the south of Ukraine is doomed for them. I am sure it is a matter of time. Firstly, there were explosions on the Chonhar bridge, which is a serious cut in the enemy's logistics, but incomplete and not absolute, but it is a first step forward, which was very good. And the southern group of Russians will slowly begin to 'suffocate,' and they will have to withdraw from there. But the Russian army has to realize a strategic task, at least at the very least, to reach the administrative lines of Donetsk and Luhansk. Only then will the Russian Federation be able to sell this defeat-victory to anyone, and primarily to domestic consumers,” the military expert said.
Petro Chernyk noted that in more than a year, Russian troops have managed to advance to the operational level of a mechanized brigade, which is an extremely modest result for the 'second army of the world,' which is far from being the second.
For reference:
The Chonhar bridge crosses the Syvash Bay on the Novooleksiivka-Dzhankoi stretch. In 2014, in response to Russia's occupation of Crimea, the Ukrainian government ordered the replacement of the old and new bridges on the Ukrainian side.
On April 25, the Ukrainian Armed Forces' General Staff stated that the Chonhar bridge had been mined, but that the Ukrainian military was confronted by forces that outnumbered them 15 to 1. Earlier, information was spread that Chonhar had allegedly been mined before the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
