Ukrainian member of parliament, Mykola Kniazhytskyi, believes that the Russian-Ukrainian war proves that a democratic state will always defeat a totalitarian one

He shared his opinion with Espreso TV.

"Putin did not take into account what we talked about. We said that Ukrainians are a people who love freedom and know how to fight for their freedom. And it is their right to choose a president. They can choose one better, one worse, as well as make a mistake, but this is the right of the people. And the people do not want to give this right away. The war between Ukraine and Russia shows how much stronger a democratic country is compared to a totalitarian one. A totalitarian country is usually corrupt and built on fear. Every official is afraid to come to Putin and say something he won't like. Were there not intelligent Russians who realized that Ukrainians are a strong people, who knew that we have a strong army, that we would fight, but were afraid to say? Each of them came to Putin and said that the Russian army in Ukraine would be greeted with flowers. And Putin believed in this, and everyone was afraid to tell him unpleasant news. He was told that he had a lot of Kalibr cruise missiles, and a lot of Kinzhal aero-ballistic air-to-surface missiles, but they turned out to be much less. Now he is imprisoning the people who made them, because he was not told the real truth about their weapons. So a corrupt dictatorship always loses to a strong democracy", Kniazhytskyi explained.

The People's Deputy emphasized that the main task for Ukraine is to build a strong democratic state.

"If we were a really strong democracy, and not just a democracy, then, first of all, Putin would not have dared to attack. He would have realized this. Secondly, there would be fewer victims and we would fight more effectively. And therefore our task - to build this strong democracy. And it is very important that the Ukrainian authorities understand this. In a strong democracy, there is a strong state, strong institutions, a strong army, a strong people, everything is for victory, and everyone unites for the sake of this victory", he added.
