Russians play double victim narrative
They portray themselves as victims of repression by Putin while simultaneously presenting themselves as victims of "cruel Ukrainians"
Another one on the topic of “good Russians”. The Atlantic recently released an article regarding the World Voices literary festival, which appears to be heavily influenced by Masha Hessen's perspective. Unfortunately, the article is highly manipulative, pushing a single narrative and undermining the concept of balanced opinions. It is disheartening to witness such blatant disregard for diverse perspectives in the name of supposed objectivity.
“The narrative of the "double victim" is increasingly being exploited by Russian liberals. They portray themselves not only as victims of Putin's oppressive regime but also as victims of the "brutal Ukrainians"
However, I believe that the narrative of the "double victim" is increasingly being exploited by Russian liberals. They portray themselves not only as victims of Putin's oppressive regime but also as victims of the "brutal Ukrainians." They now expect the Western world, which values freedom of speech, to come to the defense of the "Russians" against these so-called "cruel" Ukrainians.
Why not create a story about "Ukrainian Nazis," right? Shenderovych is already openly discussing "bursts of Nazism," and others echo similar sentiments with a different twist.
This goes beyond mere delusion; it reflects a deep-seated resentment that has reached an extreme level. It represents a dangerous alignment with the most egregious forms of propaganda.
“They have no qualms about using other people's hands and lives to fight their battles, while hypocritically labeling them as "Nazis" or "cruel”
The indifference they display towards the sacrifice of Ukrainian lives on the path to their so-called "democratic" Russia is appalling.
They have no qualms about using other people's hands and lives to fight their battles, while hypocritically labeling them as "Nazis" or "cruel." Such hypocrisy is not uncommon.
Deep down, they harbor a genuine desire for our defeat. That’s what it is.
