Russian troops are turning Zaporizhzhia fields into dead zone – Melitopol mayor
Russian troops are "planting" Ukrainian fields with mines, their equipment is causing chemical contamination of land and groundwater
Melitopol Mayor Ivan Fedorov reported the information on Telegram.
"Ruscists are turning the fields of the occupied Zaporizhzhia region into a dead zone," the mayor wrote.
According to the official, Russian troops are destroying fertile land in the temporarily occupied territory. In particular, they have created a fortified area by digging a line of trenches about 70 km long and placing so-called "dragon's teeth,” pyramidal concrete obstacles to the army's advance.
In addition, the Russian military continues to mine the territory of the Zaporizhzhia region, and their equipment is causing chemical contamination of land and groundwater. They also organize training for their mobilized soldiers right in the middle of the fields.
"The Russian occupiers are contaminating the environment by the very fact of their existence, but the "environmentalists" from the Ukrainian Armed Forces are on their way," emphasized Fedorov.
