Russian military sergeant charged with torturing former servicemen in Kyiv region
A sergeant of the 83rd Guards Air Assault Brigade of the Russian army is charged with torturing former participants of the Anti-Terrorist Operation in Kyiv region
The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine reported that a sergeant of the 83rd Guards Air Assault Brigade was charged with violation of the laws and customs of war.
Investigators established that the suspect searched the homes of local residents in February and March during the temporary occupation of Katyuzhanka village in Vyshhorod district, Kyiv region.
The armed Russian occupier illegally detained two men who were participants in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) in eastern Ukraine.
"He threatened to kill them and demanded information about the location of Ukrainian Armed Forces’ positions. He was also interested in the location of ATO participants, law enforcement officers and pro-Ukrainian citizens", prosecutors explained.
Russian soldier forced Ukrainians to go down to the basement of local school, where the detained people were tortured. For several days, he interrogated victims, threatened to shoot, beat and tortured, denied food and water.
