Russian children's ombudsman wanted by ICC gives interview to US media, Ukraine responds
Russia’s Commissioner for Children’s Rights Maria Lvova-Belova, whose arrest warrant was issued by the International Criminal Court, gave an interview to the US channel Vice News
The corresponding video was published on YouTube.
Regarding the ICC warrant issued for the deportation of Ukrainian children, Lvova-Belova said with a smile: "I am a mother, that says it all. A war criminal? What are you talking about?"
The Russian children's ombudsman also stated that Russia does not recognize the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court, and the Geneva Convention gives the right to "evacuate" children from areas where there is a danger to their life and health.
In response, Mykhailo Podolyak, Advisor to the Head of the President’s Office of Ukraine, noted that "Russia is the perfect model of hell."
"Maria Lvova-Belova, wanted by the ICC for war (genocidal) crimes, gives a laid-back interview to American journalists, where she talks about her "extraordinary mother's heart" and is sincerely surprised by the accusations," he wrote and reminded that Russia destroyed the homes of Ukrainian children, killed their parents and called it a rescue.
"It is impossible to think of a greater illustration of the word ‘cannibal’," Podolyak summarized.
