Russian, Belarusian teams banned from European Games in Poland
The organizers of the III European Games have confirmed that they will not allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate
This was announced in a commentary to Reuters by Marcin Nowak, chairman of the 2023 Games organizing committee.
"There will be no athletes representing the Russian Federation and Belarus at the European Games in Krakow," Nowak said.
The European Games will be held in Krakow and a number of other cities in Poland from June 9 to 25.
As reported, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that Russian athletes be allowed to participate in international tournaments in a neutral status.

As reported, on March 28, the IOC Executive Committee held a meeting at which the committee did not decide on the admission of athletes from Russia and Belarus to the Olympics, but recommended that the federations allow them to participate in the competition under certain conditions.

Ukraine’s Minister of Youth and Sports Vadym Huttsait called the IOC's permission to allow Russians and Belarusians to compete with international federations a victory for Ukraine. On March 30, the government decided to boycott competitions in which athletes from Russia or Belarus will compete.

ROC President Stanislav Pozdnyakov said that the IOC's criteria for admitting Russians and Belarusians to international competitions "are unacceptable to the Russian Olympic Committee."
