Ukraine loses 10 GW of generating capacity due to Russian attacks
Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal has said that since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, Ukraine has lost 10 GW of generation due to enemy attacks

He said this during the forum "Ukraine. Year 2025."
"We have lost 10 gigawatts of generating capacity. Accordingly, we must compensate for them," the Prime Minister noted.
According to him, Ukraine is working with partners to obtain equipment, as Russian forces continue to target the country's energy facilities.
It is worth noting that Ukraine entered the heating season with a 9 GW deficit after spring and summer shelling.
- In May 2024, it was reported that Ukraine's thermal generation had lost about 85% of its capacity. In 2025, Ukraine plans to launch nearly 900 MW of distributed generation facilities.
