Zelenskyy sets goal to end war in 2025, says foreign minister

He shared this during the "Ukraine. Year 2025" forum on Espreso TV.

"Today, the entire Ukrainian diplomacy is driven by the fundamental goal of achieving a comprehensive and just peace for Ukraine. We firmly believe that this year we have a real chance to secure peace. In this challenging and turbulent period, we can achieve peace for Ukraine. We are now telling many partners that the time has come to fasten diplomatic safety belts. We must not succumb to emotions," Sybiha said.

The minister added that Ukrainian diplomacy will continue working tirelessly to strengthen the country’s sovereignty.

"I can say that our entire diplomatic service is fully mobilized to achieve peace in Ukraine and end this war this year. This is the task set by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Throughout these three years of Russian aggression, the diplomatic service has been an integral part of strengthening Ukraine's resilience and defense capabilities. We will continue working to enhance the subjectivity of our state," he emphasized.

• On February 18, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, following negotiations between the American and Russian sides in Riyadh, stated that all parties must make concessions to end the war in Ukraine.
• Meanwhile, the Institute for the Study of War (ISW) believes that Russia’s negotiations with the U.S. have shown no signs that the Kremlin is willing to make concessions for peace in Ukraine.
• President Zelenskyy, for his part, stated that making concessions to Russia would mean betraying the 1% of Ukraine’s population.
