Russia says no new meeting with U.S. in Saudi Arabia on February 25

"There are no preparations for a meeting between Russian and US representatives on February 25 in Riyadh," the Russian Foreign Ministry official said.

Earlier,  US President Donald Trump claimed that a second round of talks between the US and Russian representatives would take place on February 25. Ryabkov himself had previously mentioned that another meeting at the level of department heads was expected within the next two weeks, either at the end of February or the beginning of March.

The US State Department has not officially confirmed Ryabkov's latest statement.

What is known about the first US-Russia meeting in Riyadh

On February 18, negotiations took place in the Saudi Arabian capital between US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. The talks lasted nearly five hours, and the Ukrainian President's Office responded to the development.

Following the negotiations, Rubio stated that ending the war in Ukraine would require compromises from all sides but stressed that it would be wrong to define those compromises in advance.

He also noted that a potential meeting between the presidents of the United States and Russia would "largely depend on whether we can achieve any progress toward ending the war in Ukraine."

Meanwhile, Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was not invited to the meeting in Saudi Arabia because "it wasn't a priority."
