Britain to unveil "largest package" of sanctions against Russia on February 24 – media
On Monday, February 24, the UK will share details on its "largest package" of sanctions against Russia, marking the third anniversary of Russia's invasion of Ukraine
This was reported by Bloomberg.
According to British Foreign Secretary David Lammy, the new measures will be the "largest package" of sanctions against Russia since the early days of the war.
The report noted that Western countries and their allies have imposed multiple rounds of sanctions on Russia, including measures targeting its oil industry, aiming to cut off the Kremlin's petrodollar revenue and limit war financing.
At the same time, the UK's new restrictions contrast with the US stance, as Washington has discussed the possibility of lifting certain sanctions against Russia.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer reaffirmed the UK's support for Ukraine in a call with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Saturday, emphasizing that Kyiv must remain central to any peace negotiations.
Starmer also plans to hold key discussions with US President Donald Trump during his visit to Washington this week.
- Meanwhile, European Union nations are negotiating a new €20 billion military aid package for Ukraine.
