Will Ukraine withstand if Trump cuts military and financial aid?

Ukraine’s military effectiveness could be impacted, but European support and strategic investments in defense systems offer hope for resilience

1. U.S. aid continues

Currently, no military aid programs have been halted, nor has Starlink been suspended or weapons supplies blocked under Biden's administration. There is no reason to fear that U.S. assistance will stop at this point, as Ukraine still maintains significant leverage over the situation.

2. Weapons

We cannot replace many types of American weapons. The U.S. ranks first in terms of weapons supply, and some critical types of weaponry have no analogs.

However, the key factor in the army’s combat capability is primarily funding the Ukrainian budget. If Europe can secure funding, we will compensate for the loss of certain critical weapon types with improvements in drones, electronic warfare, and radar systems, areas where U.S. supplies are not crucial.

In my view, if our military units in drones, electronic warfare, and radar systems receive at least 5 billion euros per year in funding, our army will significantly improve its combat effectiveness.

3. Our Allies

Ukraine will not be left alone in the war. We have support from European allies, and they plan to increase aid even if Trump decides to cut relations. Political support for Ukraine is actually strengthening in the face of Trump’s threats.

Conclusion

There is no reason to believe the U.S. will sever ties. Any attempt to truly break relations between the U.S. and Ukraine will lead to significant shifts in public opinion and U.S. politics. Thanks to the heroism of Ukrainian soldiers, Ukraine retains its authority in the civilized world, and no one will be able to discredit Ukraine globally. Pressure on Ukraine will lead to increased support for us and pressure on those trying to create problems for Ukraine.

Ukraine’s fate is determined on the front lines, and the soldiers holding the front line provide Ukraine with unyielding resilience and the ability to withstand any political storm.
