How much Ukraine, Europe, and the USA have spent on the war against Russia. Zelenskyy’s explanation
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the full-scale war has cost Ukraine $320 billion. At the same time, the USA has provided $100 billion in aid to Ukraine during this period
He made this statement during a press conference on February 23.
According to the President, over the three years of full-scale war, the USA has provided $100 billion to Ukraine, EU countries together with their partners have also contributed $100 billion, while Ukraine has invested $120 billion.
Zelenskyy emphasized that Ukraine is still receiving support from the previous US administration under Joe Biden.
"This is what the economy of this tragedy looks like… And from Donald Trump, I want mutual understanding and I want him to hear what security guarantees Ukraine needs," the president stated.
He stressed that even these $100 billion, he does not consider as debt, as he had agreed with former US President Biden and the US Congress that the funds provided by the country were grants, not loans.
- Earlier, former President Donald Trump claimed the US had provided $350 billion in aid to Kyiv: "We gave Kyiv, it seems, $350 billion. Well, maybe a little less, but that’s a significant amount. But where is all this money? Where is it going? I’ve never seen any report on this."
- Later, the Pentagon refuted Trump’s statement that the US had spent $350 billion on supporting Ukraine. The actual figures are much lower.
