Russian ambassador threatens escalation of war in Ukraine after Zelenskyy's visit to United States
Russia's ambassador to the United States said that Volodymyr Zelenskyy's visit to Washington showed that neither the United States nor the president of Ukraine are ready for peace
This is reported by CNN with reference to the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the USA, Anatoly Antonov.
It is reported that the Russian ambassador commented on the trip of Ukraine’s President to the States after Zelenskyy's speech in the US Capitol and thanks for American support in the fight against Russian aggression since the beginning of the war.
"Conciliatory statements of the Biden administration about the lack of intentions to start a confrontation with Russia are just empty words," said Antonov.
In a statement from the embassy, he condemned "Zelensky's Hollywood-style trip."
"What was essentially announced to applauses and sarcastic smirks, was the need to continue the 'proxy war' against our country. Till a full victory over us," Antonov added.
The Russian ambassador said that Biden's statement was made despite the fact that the Russian Federation warned the US against providing the system to Ukraine: "I think everyone understands perfectly well what fate the personnel, manning these complexes on the territory of Ukraine, can face."
Antonov also warned that US intervention in Ukraine could lead to an intensification of the conflict.
"The provocative actions by the US are steadily leading to an escalation, the consequences of which cannot even be imagined," said the Russian ambassador to the USA
