Zelenskyy addresses whether Ukraine is willing to cede territories for peace
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine “will never give up its territories because it is a violation of the Constitution”
Ukraine's president said this in an interview with the French media.
According to him, no one can resolve any issues of Ukraine's territorial integrity without the Ukrainian people. Zelenskyy added that this contradicts the Constitution of Ukraine, and therefore “this issue is exclusively ours, of an internal nature.”
The President emphasized that "no one has officially made any offers to Ukraine," and that the government cannot cede territories to anyone, as doing so would violate the Constitution.
When asked if a referendum on the cession of Ukrainian land was possible, Zelenskyy responded that "this would require the Ukrainian people to want it."
“I'll tell you honestly, this is not the best option because we are dealing with Putin, and it will be a victory for him to take away part of our territories,” Zelenskyy said.
He added that if the war is frozen, “he (Putin - ed.) may attack again after some time.”
