Political scientist Ihor Reiterovych believes that for Donald Trump's administration, ideological issues hold more value than for their predecessors, and it is this that is linked to the controversial statements made by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance

He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.

"U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance made statements that were 100% approved by the White House. It seems to me that this was a classic scheme where a 'bad guy' comes to Europe and makes controversial statements. Against this backdrop, Donald Trump will appear as a reasonable and moderate politician. So, when Vance talks about Romania, it's actually supporting the trend within Donald Trump's administration of assisting various political forces, including far-right ones. These forces, according to the Trump administration, align ideologically with them. That's why they're trying to play along with it. Vance's statement can actually be seen as direct interference in the internal affairs of a sovereign state," explained Reiterovych.

According to the political scientist, the current policy of Trump's administration seems like an attempt to divide Europe and bet on forces that could potentially come to power.

"Vance says that Romania has a 'wrong' democracy and that they had no right to cancel the results of the first round of elections. It's nonsense, excuse me. Such decisions can only be made by the country itself. Moreover, in Romania, this decision was made by the Constitutional Court. His statements appear to be an attempt by the Americans to divide Europe and place their bet on forces that might potentially come to power. For the current Trump administration, ideological issues hold much greater value than for their predecessors," he added.
