Ukrainian troops drive Russian army out of one of Chasiv Yar's neighborhoods
Ukrainian troops have cleared one area of Chasiv Yar in Donetsk region. The situation there remains quite difficult
This was reported by Andriy Polukhin, spokesperson for the press service of Ukraine's 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, on Suspilne TV channel.
"At the moment, one of the successful operations is the clearing of one of the neighborhoods of Chasiv Yar from an enemy infantry group that managed to cross the Canal and gain a foothold in one of the ruins. Our guys entered the area and cleared several buildings," noted Polukhin.
He also said that there were no significant changes in Russia's tactics. The fighting continues within the urban area, and the situation in the city remains difficult.
The soldier also explained that Russia is trying to storm the positions of Ukrainian defenders in the Chasiv Yar area. In particular, Russian forces are trying to bypass these positions using small infantry groups acting as subversive reconnaissance groups. These groups are trying to start a battle in the rear, behind the backs of Ukrainian defenders.
- At the end of November, the head of the Chasiv Yar city military administration, Serhiy Chaus, said that 302 people remained in Chasiv Yar, and the housing stock was almost destroyed.
