Ukrainian Armed Forces control 40-50% of Toretsk - City Military Administration
Russian troops are trying to capture Toretsk as soon as possible, with about 40-50% of its territory still under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces
The head of the Toretsk City Military Administration, Vasyl Chynchyk, said this on the United News telethon.
“Over the last day, the Russians failed to advance. The military made every effort to prevent the Russian troops from succeeding. As of yesterday, not a single advance or seizure of any position was recorded, and not a single house, residential building or critical infrastructure facility in the community was destroyed,” he said.
According to the head of the City Military Administration, Russian troops are trying and making every effort to capture the city as soon as possible.
“Approximately 40-50% of the city can be said to be under the control of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The rest of the territory is captured by the Russians. And Russian forces are trying and making every effort to completely capture the city as soon as possible. But the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the resistance forces are giving a worthy fight back and holding their positions to the best of their ability,” said Chynchyk.
He emphasized that the evacuation of civilians from Toretsk continues, albeit with significant difficulties.
"We are making every effort. Unfortunately, today, those who are left, and there are about 1,150 people remaining, if they manage to come out, they at least have their identity documents. And even then, many don't have them (documents – ed.) because they were burned somewhere, either in basements or apartments. As of yesterday, 7 people were evacuated from the community: 3 with the help of the National Police and 4 with assistance from the military,” Chynchyk said.
The head of the City Military Administration notes that the security situation in Toretsk currently allows for entry into the city only "at certain intervals, when there is a lull or favorable weather conditions, so that we can get as close as possible and evacuate the population."
- Vasyl Chynchyk, head of the Toretsk city military administration, said that Russian troops are systematically shelling the city using heavy artillery and tactical aircraft.
