The spokesman for the Air Force of Ukraine, Illia Yevlash, said this on Radio Liberty.
According to Yevlash, the missile type is still being determined at the scientific research expert center.
At the same time, he noted that if the Zircon was indeed used for the attack, it could indicate that Russia is facing a shortage of other weaponry.
"In general, this type of missile is anti-ship, and it is used only in specific cases, using various launch platforms such as Bastion or Bal. However, we can say that if they had enough other types of missiles, like Kalibr or Iskander, they would have used them," the spokesman said.
- On the morning of Monday, March 25, Russian terrorists launched a missile attack on the capital of Ukraine. Air defense forces destroyed two Russian ballistic missiles over Kyiv. There has been no official confirmation from the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces that the Russians attacked Kyiv with Zircon hypersonic missiles.
- Natalia Humeniuk, a spokesperson for the Southern Ukrainian Defense Forces, stated that Russia possesses several dozen long-range ballistic missiles but is resorting to using reserve weapons, which means that it is desperate.
