State bodies in Ukraine should refuse from air conditioners – PM Shmyhal
All public authorities are tasked with reducing electricity consumption as Russian terrorist attacks dealt a heavy blow to Ukraine's energy grid
The government of Ukraine has issued a corresponding order. This was reported by Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal on Telegram.
"Ministries, central executive authorities, and regional state administrations should refuse to use air conditioners, outdoor lighting of buildings and the surrounding area. We also recommend law enforcement agencies, the judiciary, and other government agencies to take similar steps. Local authorities should limit street lighting,” the statement reads.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine also addressed the business community.
"We urge you to limit the use of air conditioners and other energy-intensive equipment that is not critical for production activities.
The only exception is that the use of air conditioners in hospitals and enterprises where air conditioning is part of the production process will not be restricted,” Shmyhal said.
Emergency power shutdowns are currently implemented across a dozen of Ukraine's regions after Russia had repeatedly attacked the country’s energy system with drones and missiles.
