Situation is more complicated now: SBU colonel on Ukraine's Kursk operation
Roman Kostenko, a Ukrainian MP and Colonel in the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), reports that maneuver warfare is currently underway in the Kursk region, with Ukrainian Armed Forces maintaining the initiative in certain areas
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
"The situation in the Kursk region has significantly evolved since our initial entry," said Roman Kostenko. "The Russians have now amassed substantial forces, exceeding 40,000 personnel. Initially, there were only small units of the Russian army, allowing us to advance and leave the enemy behind. However, the dynamics have become more complex, as Russian troops are not only holding their positions but also attempting to reclaim territory in certain areas. This is a maneuver war, with no solid lines of defense. Both we and the enemy are striving to create conditions that favor us through superior maneuvering."
According to Kostenko, the situation is particularly evident in the direction of the Seim River, where Russian forces are attempting to maintain their positions by establishing pontoon crossings, which Ukrainian troops are actively disrupting.
"We are working to isolate Russian soldiers from their offensive towards Liubimovka," he explained. "It’s difficult to claim that either side has a definitive advantage. While we are not as aggressive in our offensive as we were at the beginning, we still maintain the initiative in certain areas."
