Russia spreads fake about Ukraine's attempt to attack Kursk NPP, Ukraine's MFA denies
Ukraine's Foreign Ministry has denied the information spread by Russian propagandists about an alleged attempt by the Ukrainian forces to attack the Kursk nuclear power plant
The press service of the Foreign Affairs Ministry reports.
"We categorically deny the allegations of the Russian media about Ukrainian strikes on or near the Kursk nuclear power plant," said Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi.
"Unlike the Russian invaders, the Ukrainian Armed Forces strictly adhere to international humanitarian law and do not attack civilians or civilian infrastructure," he added.
Earlier, the head of the National Security and Defense Council’s Center for Countering Disinformation, Andrii Kovalenko, denied on Telegram that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had allegedly attempted to attack the Kursk NPP with HIMARS.
"Of course, no one hit the nuclear power plant, there is no point in doing so. The Russians show some kind of fire in Kurchatov and the video shows an explosion on the ground. What does the shelling of the nuclear power plant have to do with it? It's far away. It has nothing to do with the attack on the Kursk NPP," wrote the head of the Center for Countering Disinformation.
Also, the information about the alleged attack on the nuclear power plant was denied by Suspilne’s sources in the special services.
It should be noted that earlier Russian Telegram channels reported on alleged attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to attack the Kursk NPP. In particular, SHOT reported that four missiles were allegedly fired, and "all of them were destroyed by air defense forces." At the same time, the channel noted that the Kursk NPP was operating normally.
- IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said that the situation around Russia's Kursk NPP remains serious, but the agency is not planning a permanent mission to the plant.
