Russia attacks settlements in Kursk region where there are no Ukrainian troops
The Siversk troops grouping claims that the Russian military is shelling settlements in the Kursk region where there are no Ukrainian soldiers
Vadym Mysnyk, spokesman for the operational and tactical group, said this during the telethon.
He said that Russia continues to shell the territories of the Kursk region controlled by the Ukrainian Armed Forces, even if the Ukrainian military is not present in these settlements.
"The local population does not understand why they are being hit (by the Russians - ed.), because the (Ukrainian - ed.) military are not even nearby. But the locals are suffering, they are forced to hide in basements for several hours, and sometimes spend half a day there," said Mysnyk.
The spokesman emphasized that the Ukrainian military is providing food, water and medicine to residents of the Ukrainian Armed Forces-controlled areas of Kursk region. They are also trying to restore water supply and electricity.
"All of this falls on the shoulders of the military, because we comply with all the requirements of international humanitarian law and provide the local population with everything they need," noted Mysnyk.
- Earlier, it was reported that the Russian FSB fighters probably lack training and equipment to respond to the Ukrainian army's offensive in the Kursk region.
