Scale of possible hostilities in Sumy region will be smaller than in Kharkiv region - Defense Express experts
Defense Express military expert Ivan Kyrychevskyi believes that a hypothetical Russian operation in Sumy region will not be of a significant scale
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
"Regarding the current scenarios in Sumy region, we will have to start from the first words of the head of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine Budanov, who outlined a scenario that the Russians will probably try to attack in Kharkiv region for 3-4 days to stretch the defense line of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and then the enemy will try to attack in Sumy region. But we can make an adjustment to the fact that if the Russians do attack in Sumy region, the fighting will be on a smaller scale because the Russians have concentrated a group of about 10,000 troops there," Kyrychevskyi said.
According to the military expert, the Russians gathered 30,000 soldiers in Kharkiv region, but this was not enough for them to fully enter Vovchansk even on the 4th day of the operation.
"Based on reports from the Ukrainian General Staff that some groups of Russians tried to infiltrate the outskirts of Vovchansk, but were driven out, it is clear that a hypothetical Russian operation in Sumy region will not be of a significant scale. At the moment, the question is not how many troops the Russians will be able to attract, but how much the active front line will grow. That is, we will have to distribute the amount of ammunition, equipment, and reserves as before," Kyrychevskyi said.
- On May 13, the head of Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, said he expected a new Russian offensive in Sumy region.
- Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military and political observer of the Information Resistance group, believes that the Russian forces do not have the capability to capture Kharkiv or Sumy.
