Russian troops prepare for offensive push in Zaporizhzhia direction
Ukrainian intelligence reports indicate that Russian forces are consolidating assault group personnel in the Zaporizhzhia direction
Vladyslav Voloshyn, spokesperson for Ukraine’s Southern Defense Forces, shared this update during the national telethon, according to Ukrinform.
“There’s been a clear trend over the last few days — the situation in the Zaporizhzhia region, specifically along this section of the demarcation line, is escalating. Yesterday alone saw five attacks, and we expect more to follow. Intelligence confirms that Russia is gathering assault group personnel in the Priyutne area,” Voloshyn stated.
He also mentioned that Russian forces received 25 light buggies from reserve storage of Russia's Southern District, adding that "this signals preparations for assault operations."
Voloshyn emphasized that the situation in southern Ukraine is as tense as on any other part of the front. Russian forces are currently engaging in combat reconnaissance, deploying small assault groups of 5-10 soldiers.
“Their tactic is to close the distance between the trenches as quickly as possible and establish positions within ours,” Voloshyn explained.
- Over the past day, 189 combat clashes were recorded along the Russian-Ukrainian front.
