Russian forces launch port, railroad in Mariupol - local official
Advisor to the mayor of Mariupol Petro Andriushchenko says that the Russians can now use the railway from Volnovakha to Melitopol
He said this on the Espreso TV channel.
“The Russians have fully restored their logistics, including the systematic operation of the railroad. We see the first trains arriving from Luhansk region via Rostov-on-Don to Mariupol. They entered the port, loaded onto a ship, and tonight the vessel set sail in the direction of the Crimean peninsula,” noted Andriushchenko.
According to the advisor to the mayor of Mariupol, the Russian occupiers are exporting coal and kaolin, continuing to plunder Ukraine's mineral resources.
“Our sources also report that freight trains from Rostov-on-Don regularly, mostly at night, move from Volnovakha through the village of Malovodne. This is a junction to Mariupol and Volnovakha. Given the events around Vuhledar, which allows us to control about 18 kilometers of the railroad, our entire logistics is at risk. The Russians can now use the railroad from Volnovakha to Rozivka and further, up to Melitopol,” emphasized Andriushchenko.
- On September 21, in the temporarily occupied Mariupol, the movement of military equipment and the transfer of Russian army personnel to the north of Donetsk region was recorded.
- The Institute for the Study of War reports that the Russian occupation army captured the town of Vuhledar in Donetsk region after costly and failed assaults near the town over the past 2.5 years.
