'War here feels like Vietnam': Ukraine’s 13th Brigade on situation in Kharkiv region
Volodymyr Dehtiariov, public relations officer with Ukraine’s 13th Khartia Operational Brigade, says that, meter by meter, Ukrainian forces are pushing Russian troops away from Kharkiv towards the border
He shared the information on Espreso TV.
“The brigade is positioned north of Kharkiv, in the village of Lyptsi. Between Lyptsi and the border, we are gradually advancing and pushing the enemy back to the border. In May 2024, when the second attempt at an offensive on the Kharkiv region began, the brigade was urgently redeployed to this direction. Since then, meter by meter, we have been driving the enemy away from Kharkiv,” Dehtiariov noted.
According to him in recent months, an operation has been underway in which the Khartia Brigade, together with adjacent units, including the Main Intelligence Directorate and the 92nd Brigade, has been pushing the Russian army back. Currently, another phase of the operation is in progress.
“The specificity of the Kharkiv region and this area lies in the fact that it is densely forested, and every meter has to be fought for. There is no continuous line of trenches or dugouts. Instead, the war here resembles Vietnam, with many dugouts, from which the enemy must literally be dug out one by one,” Dehtiariov emphasized.
- The Lyptsi area has become a stronghold for Ukrainian forces and a "meat grinder" for Russia’s ambitions, says military and political observer Oleksandr Kovalenko.
