Military expert Valerii Riabykh, Director of Development at the information and consulting company Defense Express, discussed key enemy military facilities located in Kazan during an interview on Espreso

The expert shared his opinion during an interview on Espreso.

"Kazan is a major production hub for the aggressor state. The Gorbunov Kazan Aviation Plant produces, upgrades, and repairs strategic bombers such as the Tu-22M3 and Tu-160. This is significant because Ukraine’s Defense Forces continue efforts to reduce the aggressor state's strategic military potential, particularly in the aviation component of its nuclear deterrence forces. These strikes follow earlier attacks on radar stations, fuel reserves for strategic bombers in Engels, and now this plant," Riabykh explained.

He also noted other critical facilities in Kazan, including a helicopter plant and a powder plant, both of which produce equipment and materials used by Russia in the war against Ukraine.

"In addition to the aviation plant, there is the Kazan Helicopter Plant, which produces military helicopters used by Russia in its war against Ukraine. Additionally, the Kazan Powder Plant manufactures explosive materials and powders primarily for aviation munitions. The plant's products are also used in missiles and aerial bombs employed by Russia to terrorize Ukrainians," Riabykh said.

The expert emphasized that strikes on such industrial hubs not only have significant military importance in reducing the enemy's potential, but also apply psychological pressure.

"There are fewer and fewer areas in the terrorist state that can consider themselves distanced from this unjust war against Ukraine. This war is increasingly coming to their doorstep," he added.

  • On the night of Monday, January 20, reports emerged in Russia of a potential drone attack in Tatarstan, leading to restrictions on two airports and explosions in Kazan.
