He shared the information on Espreso TV.

“The situation remains tense: the enemy (Russian forces - ed.) is not giving up hope or attempts to capture the city in the shortest possible time. For this, they are making every effort, using various types of weapons and trying to break our spirit and breach the defense directly in Toretsk,” Chynchyk noted.

According to the head of the Toretsk City Military Administration, street fighting continues in the city itself. Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers are heroically defending every house and every piece of land, refusing to surrender without a fight. Unfortunately, the large number of Russian forces creates a significant advantage. The defenders are forced to use all types of weapons to slow their advance.

“The enemy is trying to move forward to potision themselves for an advance towards Kostiantynivka and Chasiv Yar, creating pressure on the Ukrainian Armed Forces. The invaders aim to fully take control of the city and the territory of the Toretsk community as quickly as possible,” Chynchyk emphasized.

He added that about 250 people remain in the community’s territory, including 61 directly in the city. These are civilians who have not expressed a desire to evacuate. Unfortunately, these people are now hostages of the circumstances, living in inhumane conditions as the city has been completely destroyed.

  • Over the past day, January 20, there were 152 combat clashes on the Russian-Ukrainian front. Russia actively attacks in the Pokrovsk direction.
