Russians no longer need to return to Sevastopol to reload submarines - Ukrainian Navy
Russian troops can now reload their submarines at the Novorossiysk base
Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokerperson for the Ukrainian Navy, announced this during a state-sponsored telethon on June 6.
"At the Novorossiysk base, the Russians can reload submarines, as we've seen them operating without returning to Sevastopol. It seems they have solved this issue," Pletenchuk noted.
He added that the Russian Black Sea Fleet consists of submarines, patrol and landing ships, and cruise missile carriers, maintaining a sizable presence.
"The Russians have mainly limited their naval operations to submarines, including three cruise missile carriers and diesel-electric submarines of the Paltus project. We've observed increased activity of these units at sea recently. The higher number of ships we're seeing today is likely due to an inter-base transfer for security reasons, aimed at preserving their fleet," Pletenchuk explained.
- On June 5, Pletenchuk said that the Defense Forces were holding positions in Krynky and in the Orikhiv direction.
