Ukraine's Security Service (SBU) served a notice of suspicion in absentia to propagandist Margarita Simonyan, who spreads Kremlin narratives and called for the mass murder of Ukrainian children last December

This is reported by the SBU.

"The Security Service has documented new crimes by Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan, who called for the genocide of Ukrainians. The suspect heads the Kremlin's international mouthpiece, RT TV channel, and is a member of Putin's media pool," the statement says

According to the investigation, Simonyan was one of the first to support the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine and Russian war crimes.

Her documented crimes include public calls for the mass murder of Ukrainian children in December 2023, repeatedly advocating for the continuation of missile and bomb attacks on the civilian infrastructure of Ukraine. The propagandist spreads the Kremlin's narratives on Russian TV channels and through "author's" posts on her Telegram channel.

The SBU also emphasizes the participation of the defendant in a television program by another Russian propagandist, Vladimir Solovyov.

"Based on the evidence collected, the SBU investigators served Simonyan a new notice of suspicion under four articles of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: Part 2 of Art. 442 (genocide); Part 2 of Art. 110 (encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine); Art. 436 (war propaganda); Part 3 of Art. 436-2 (justification, recognition as lawful, denial of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine, glorification of its participants)," the SBU said.

Since the suspect is hiding from justice in Russia, comprehensive measures are being taken to bring her to justice.

The Security Service reminded that Simonyan had already been notified of suspicion for encroachment on the territorial integrity and inviolability of Ukraine in March last year.

Who is Simonyan?

One of Putin's main and most famous propagandists, 43-year-old Margarita Simonyan is the editor-in-chief of RT TV channel, the international news agency Rossiya Segodnya, and the Sputnik news agency.

She began her career as a propagandist by covering the Chechen war in the right light, of course. She continued to cover the Beslan tragedy. At the beginning of the noughties, Simonyan moved to Moscow and very quickly became part of the presidential pool of journalists.

Obviously, she demonstrated remarkable abilities in the field of propaganda, which allowed her to head the newly created Russia Today channel at the age of 25. Every day, year after year, Simonyan lies about almost everything: she distorts facts, manipulates, distorts, silences, presents everything in the way the authorities want it to be presented, and receives huge amounts of money for it. Moreover, she not only receives money for her propaganda work, she also actively steals it from the pockets of Russian taxpayers.

Since January 7, 2023, Simonyan has been under NSDC sanctions for her anti-Ukrainian activities. Since 2022, Armenia has declared her persona non grata for her propaganda statements and banned her from entering the Republic of Armenia.

On March 11, 2022, Prosecutor General of Ukraine Iryna Venediktova announced that she had served a notice of suspicion to Russian propagandist Margarita Simonyan.
