Ukraine repels 77 Russian attacks near Pokrovsk, 166 clashes along frontline

Since January 13, the Russian army has launched 166 attacks on Ukrainian positions, including 77 in the Pokrovsk direction

Ukrainian Armed Forces’ General Staff reported the information as of 8:00 a.m.

The General Staff reported 166 combat clashes over the past day.

Russian forces launched one missile strike and 62 airstrikes against Ukrainian positions and settlements, including one missile and 99 guided bombs. They also launched 4,500 attacks, 85 of which were from multiple launch rocket systems.

Airstrikes hit one settlement in Chernihiv region, two in Donetsk region, and one in Zaporizhzhia region.

Ukrainian missile forces and artillery targeted a Russian troop and equipment position, as well as another significant site.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, Russian troops twice stormed the positions of the Ukrainian forces near Vovchansk.

In the Kupyansk direction, Ukrainian defense forces repelled Russian assaults near Lozova, Zakhidne and Dvorichna, where three Russian attacks took place in the last day.

In the Lyman direction, Russian forces attacked 16 times yesterday. They tried to penetrate Ukrainian defenses near Novoserhiivka, Zelenyi Hai, Shyikivka, Pershotravneve, Makiivka, Zarichne and Terny.

In the Siversk direction, Ukrainian defenders rebuffed five Russian attacks near Bilohorivka.

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked 14 times near Chasiv Yar and Stupochky.

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops conducted sixteen attacks near Toretsk, Krymske, Shcherbynivka and Bila Hora. They directed most of the attacks at Toretsk.

In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian defenders stopped 77 offensives towards the settlements of Baranivka, Zelene Pole, Yelyzavetivka, Tarasivka, Nova Poltava, Novotoretske, Lysivka, Myrnohrad, Zelene, Novyi Trud, Promin, Pokrovsk, Shevchenko, Udachne, Novovasylivka, Uspenivka, Petropavlivka, Novoandriivka, Slovianka, Sribne, Andriivka, Kurakhove, Dachne, Novoserhiivka and Yantarne.

In the Novopavlivka direction, Ukrainian defense forces fought off 13 Russian attacks. Russian forces were most actively trying to advance near the settlements of Rozlyv, Vremivka, Rozdolne, Kostiantynopil and Neskuchne.

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Ukrainian troops countered one Russian attack.

In the Huliaipole and Orikhiv directions, no combat clashes were recorded yesterday.

In the Kursk direction, 15 combat clashes occurred. Russian forces launched 37 airstrikes with 49 guided bombs and carried out 422 artillery attacks, including 20 from multiple launch rocket systems.

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups were detected.

“Our soldiers inflict significant losses in manpower and equipment on the occupying forces and actively undermine the enemy's offensive potential in the rear,” the post reads.

  • Russian maneuvers to outflank Pokrovsk from the south are already underway. The northern part of the Donetsk region may become a battleground in the coming months.
