Zelenskyy releases video showing interrogation of captured North Korean soldier
One of the North Korean soldiers captured in Kursk confirmed during interrogation that he had forged Russian documents
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has released a video showing the interrogation of a captured North Korean soldier who was apprehended in the Kursk region.
In the video, the North Korean soldier communicates with Ukrainian intelligence officers through a translator. He recounts being wounded in battle and immobilized until Ukrainian forces discovered and evacuated him after several days.
When questioned about the authenticity of his Russian documents, he admitted that they did not bear his photograph or name, indicating they were falsified.
Additionally, he revealed that he had received instructions on handling the capture of Ukrainian soldiers, though he had not applied this knowledge.
President Zelenskyy commented on the video, stating, "The interrogation of captured North Korean soldiers by Ukrainian investigators is ongoing. We are establishing facts and verifying all details. The world will learn the full truth about how Russia exploits individuals who have grown up in complete informational isolation, know nothing about Ukraine, and are used by Russia solely to prolong and expand this war."
He further emphasized that only Russia desires this war and expressed gratitude to all Ukrainian defenders and international supporters.
“Only Russia needs this war. I am grateful to all our soldiers who are defending Ukrainian positions. I am also grateful to everyone in the world who helps us save lives and our independence,” he added.
- Earlier, Ukrainian Defense Forces captured two wounded North Korean soldiers during combat in Russia's Kursk region and transported them to Kyiv for questioning by the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).
- President Zelenskyy said he is ready to transfer these prisoners to North Korea in exchange for Ukrainian soldiers held by Russia. The Kremlin refused to comment on Zelenskyy's statement.
