Syrskyi's approach to warfare isn't fundamentally different from Zaluzhnyi's vision - political analyst
Ihor Reiterovych, head of political and legal programs at the Ukrainian Center for Social Development, believes that the new Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi's vision of warfare isn't fundamentally different from Valerii Zaluzhnyi's
He said this on Espreso TV.
"If you look at all the statements made by our military, many of them made anonymously because they cannot express their position very strongly, they were generally a bit shocked, in the sense that Syrskyi, with all due respect for him and support for him as commander-in-chief, does not have any alternative vision of how the situation on the battlefield should develop. That is, by and large, a person who was subordinate was appointed, but at the same time, he does not fundamentally differ, at least in a strategic sense, from the approaches that Zaluzhnyi had," the head of political and legal programs emphasized.
In his opinion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy could not communicate with citizens about the dismissal of Valerii Zaluzhnyi.
"When we go through the purely military component and talk about the appointment through the prism of some other things, and these reasons are purely political. The fact is that Ukrainian citizens, according to all the polls and what we saw yesterday in the social networks, do not accept these political reasons at all, they consider them harmful and should not take place during the war. If the president had at least a real reason that he could explain in detail and understood that it would be perceived more or less adequately by the citizens, he would probably voice this reason. Since he does not have such a reason, the resignation took place in the format we saw yesterday," Reiterovych summarized.
- On February 8, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy dismissed Valerii Zaluzhnyi from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Colonel General Oleksandr Syrskyi was appointed to replace him.
