Returning Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant to Ukrainian control, full prisoner exchange: Espreso correspondent on Peace Summit Communiqué
The final session of the Peace Summit is underway. Espreso correspondent Tetiana Vysotska updates on the discussions happening on the sidelines
She spoke about this on Espreso TV on June 16.
"The draft communiqué circulating at the summit includes several key points. It will call for the immediate return of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant to Ukrainian control. It will also require Russia to ensure uninterrupted access of merchant ships to Black Sea ports, crucial for Ukraine's food exports to ensure global food security. The communiqué will urge Russia to exchange all prisoners and return to Ukraine tens of thousands of illegally deported Ukrainians, especially children," Vysotska said.
She noted that leaders from participating countries are delivering speeches summarizing the summit's outcomes. Throughout the Peace Summit, three of the ten points from Ukraine's Peace Formula have been actively discussed.
The Summit will result in the signing of a final communiqué. Shortly before the closing session, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba provided some details on the matter: "Several countries are reviewing the communiqué internally and plan to join, even though they are not here. The document is well-balanced and includes all the principled positions that Ukraine insisted on.”
- On Sunday, June 16, the Summit participants gathered for the second plenary session. The final declaration is to be approved and signed today.
