Poland prepares 45th support package for Ukraine - Prime Minister Tusk
During a telephone conversation with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy on November 20, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that Warsaw was preparing to hand over another aid package to Kyiv
Zelenskyy announced this on social media.
‘I had a telephone conversation with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. I thanked the Polish people for their solidarity with Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale invasion and the Prime Minister for his personal principled response to the latest Russian attacks and attempts to end the political isolation of Russian dictator Putin,’ the president wrote.
In particular, he said, he discussed with Tusk the continuation of defense cooperation.
‘Mr Prime Minister said that his country is preparing the 45th support package for the transfer and has already begun work on the next defense package,’ Zelenskyy said.
The Polish prime minister and the Ukrainian president also shared their expectations for Poland's presidency of the EU Council in the first half of 2025. Zelenskyy noted that he hoped for Poland's support in the negotiation process with the EU to open the first cluster of negotiations and open other clusters in parallel.
‘I also thanked Donald Tusk for using his extensive personal contacts to advocate for Ukraine's accession to NATO and continued defense support for Ukraine,’ the Ukrainian leader added.
In addition, Zelenskyy and Tusk agreed to hold a meeting by the end of this year.
- As a reminder, Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski recently announced a meeting in Warsaw in the Weimar Triangle Plus format to discuss the settlement of the war in Ukraine.
