Search duration, number of trapped under rubble uncertain: Espreso Poltava report
Espreso correspondent Artem Lahutenko reported a structural collapse threat at the tragic site in Poltava
He shared this during a live broadcast on Espreso TV.
"The situation in Poltava is dire. We are 100 meters from the site where the Russian Iskanders struck. Access is restricted as debris clearance continues. Rescuers have also warned of a risk of structural collapse. It's unclear how long the clearance will take or how many remain trapped under the rubble. Numerous units of the State Emergency Service are on the ground," Lahutenko stated.
He mentioned that both psychological and medical support is being offered to those in need.
"Rescuers noted that, in addition to military personnel and students at the university, many civilians from nearby apartment buildings have sought help. For instance, all the windows in one building were shattered. The situation has left many civilians terrified. It's difficult to determine the exact number of casualties at this moment, but the toll could rise," Lahutenko emphasized.
- On September 3, the Russian army launched an attack on an educational institution in Poltava using two ballistic missiles. The assault resulted in 52 deaths and 271 injuries.
