No doubt Ukraine's strike hit its target at Russia's Kotluban arsenal - Defense Express
Valerii Riabykh, a military expert and the development director of the media and consulting company Defense Express, believes that the strike on the Kotluban arsenal in Russia's Volgograd region most likely achieved its goal
He expressed this opinion on Espreso TV.
"We have an official message stating that the strike was carried out, that it was effective, and this message has been communicated by the General Staff and the relevant Ukrainian structures, including the Centre for Countering Disinformation. I would not question these official statements from our officials. In addition, Kotluban is a very important missile and artillery arsenal of the Main Missile and Artillery Directorate of the Russian Federation's Ministry of Defense, the so-called military unit 57229/51," he said.
The military expert noted that the Russian military arsenal at Kotluban has been in the sights of Ukrainian defenders multiple times.
"And this base has been subjected to Ukrainian strikes many times - at least four times, starting in the autumn of 2023. In early 2024, they were hit on International Women's Day, then on May 14, something struck there and derailed a train carrying ammunition. Now, we are also talking about destroying the same Iranian munitions. There is little doubt in my mind that our strike achieved its goal," said Valerii Riabykh.
- On the night of September 29, Russia reported drone attacks across seven regions. It was revealed that Ukrainian drones hit a missile and ammunition arsenal in Kotluban, Volgograd region, more than 600 km from the Ukrainian border.
