Ivan Tymochko, head of the Reserve Council of Ukraine's Ground Forces, warns the integration of North Korean and Russian armies could pose a threat to Ukraine and others

He spoke about this on Espreso TV.

“North Korea is an insanely militarized country in which the entire population is pumped through the army in one way or another, and the loss of a few people is not so important. What is important, however, is that those DPRK military personnel, if they received any information or skills, because they did not just end up in Russia after passing a certain selection, are now destroyed and will not be carriers of certain information. Accordingly, new ones will have to be sent to replace them. Knowing how difficult it is to leave the DPRK, these were people loyal to the regime, checked by the special services. Until now, it was known that Russia was receiving North Korean weapons, and now that the DPRK military has started to appear in Russia, this may indicate several things,” said the head of the Council of Reservists of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

In his opinion, the first point is that Russia lacks operators of North Korean equipment and weapons, so some joint schools are needed.

“Secondly, the DPRK is trying to integrate Russian weapons, the same missiles and air defense systems, into its defense in the future. Perhaps this is how they will prepare for local confrontations with South Korea, or there may be a potential threat that the armies of the DPRK and Russia are trying to integrate into each other for some kind of interaction, for example, against Ukraine or other countries. On the one hand, the death of six DPRK soldiers is not much, but on the other hand, it is a lot if it turns into a system of interaction between the Russian and North Korean armies. When this begins, it should be taken quite seriously,” summarized Ivan Tymochko.

  • On October 4, the Kyiv Post reported that a missile strike on the occupied territory of Donetsk region killed 20 soldiers. Among them, in particular, were six soldiers from the DPRK who were consulting with the Russian army.
