Artillery fire advantage along frontline is 7:1 in Russia's favor - Ukrainian general
Russia's superiority in ammunition and the dominance of Russian combat aircraft in the sky make it difficult for the Ukrainian army to fulfill its tasks of repelling the aggressor
Deputy Defense Minister Lieutenant General Ivan Havryliuk reported this.
According to him, the Russian totalitarian regime has been preparing for a full-scale invasion of Ukraine for a long time, so it has accumulated enough resources for a long and exhausting war. At the same time, the defense industry of Ukraine and its Western partners was not designed for such an unprecedented intensity of hostilities
"Since the beginning of 2024, the advantage in artillery fire along the front line has been 7:1 in Russia's favor. The Kremlin expects to have enough shells to dominate the battlefield for a long time. This firepower is provided not only by Russian factories. The North Korean regime is helping the Russians with weapons in large quantities," the general said.
He also emphasized that Russian combat aircraft dominate the skies. Since the beginning of this year, Russian aircraft have dropped more than 3,500 bombs on our positions, which is 16 times more than last year.
"The long-awaited F-16s are supposed to break the Russian dominance in air warfare, which will increase the capabilities of the Ukrainian Defense Forces on the ground. However, the current situation is such that we do not have F-16s yet, and the stocks of ammunition of certain nomenclatures are falling to a critical level. These and other factors make it difficult for the Ukrainian Defense Forces to fulfill their tasks of repelling the aggressor," Havryliuk summarized.
- Earlier this month, CNN reported, citing NATO intelligence, that Russia produces about 250,000 artillery rounds per month, or about 3 million per year. This is three times the amount that the US and EU countries can send to Ukraine.
