171 combat clashes occur at Russian-Ukrainian frontline, concentrated in Pokrovsk and Kurakhove sectors

Over the past day, there were 171 combat clashes at the frontline, with 40 occurring in the Kurakhove sector and 26 in the Pokrovsk sector

This is stated in Ukraine's General Staff's report as of 8:00 a.m. on October 16.

 

According to the updated information, yesterday Russia launched five missile attacks on the positions of Ukrainian units and settlements using 13 missiles, as well as 65 air strikes, including 130 KABs. In addition, it carried out more than 4,500 attacks, including 169 from multiple launch rocket systems.

 

Russia carried out air strikes, targetong 7 settlements in Sumy region; 2 in Kharkiv region; 2 in Luhansk region; 4 in Donetsk region; 4 in Zaporizhzhia region.

 

Over the past day, Ukraine's aviation, missile and artillery forces hit 20 areas of Russian personnel, weapons and military equipment concentration, in addition, a UAV ground station, an artillery system and a field ammunition depot were destroyed.

Frontline update

In the Kharkiv direction, the Russian army attacked 11 times in the areas of Vovchansk and Starytsia.

 

In the Kupyansk sector, 28 Russian attacks took place over the last day. The Ukrainian defense forces repelled assaults near 10 settlements.

 

In the Lyman direction, Russian troops attacked 16 times. They tried to break into Ukraine's defense near 5 settlements.

 

In the Kramatorsk direction, Russian forces attacked three times near Kalynivka, Stupochky and Predtechyne.

 

In the Toretsk direction, Russian troops, with the support of aviation, carried out nine attacks near Toretsk, Dachne and Shcherbynivka.

 

In the Pokrovsk direction, the Ukrainian defenders stopped 26 Russian assaults towards 5 settlements. The highest concentration of hostile attacks was near the village of Selydove.

 

In the Kurakhove direction, the Ukrainian Defense Forces repelled 40 attacks. The Russian army was most actively trying to advance near Novodmytrivka and Heorhiivka, attacking in the direction of 6 settlements.
 

In the Vremivka direction, Russia made two assaults on Ukrainian positions in the areas of Rozdolne and Bohoyavlenka, actively using attack and bomber aircraft.

 

In the Orikhiv direction, Russian forces attacked in the direction of Mala Tokmachka.

 

In the Prydniprovskyi direction, Russian troops made five attempts to dislodge Ukrainian units from their positions but faced a strong counterattack and incurred losses.

 

On the border with Belarus, no signs of Russian offensive groups formation were detected.

 

On the border with the Chernihiv and Sumy regions, Russia is actively using artillery and aviation in the vicinity of Ukrainian settlements from its territory.

 

The operation in the Kursk region continues. Russian aircraft continue to strike with guided aerial bombs at Ukrainian territory. Currently, 16 air strikes involving 23 KABs have been reported, and Russia has fired 191 artillery rounds.
