Russia started war against Ukraine because it expects to go further to Europe - Zelensky in front of the Swedish Parliament

He stated this during his speech before the Swedish Parliament, Espreso.TV reports.

"If Ukraine did not resist, could not defend itself, it would mean that everything is lost. Everything that we value. Everything that you value. Everything that the free people of any free state appreciate. This would mean that all neighbors are in danger", Zelensky said.

He reminded the Swedes that only the sea separates them from an aggressive state.  The President noted that Russian propagandists are already discussing on state television how Russia is occupying, in particular, the Swedish island of Gotland, and will keep it under its control for decades.

"They say that it will be beneficial for Russia to deploy air defense systems and a military base on Gotland to cover the capture of the Baltic states. Russia went to war against Ukraine because it expects to go further into Europe, it expects to destroy freedom further in Europe. This is a fundamental challenge for the European security system", emphasized the President of Ukraine.

Zelensky also emphasized that Ukrainians are fighting not only for their state, but also for the security of Europe.
