South Korea halts ship heading from DPRK to Russia
South Korea detained a flagless cargo ship suspected of violating UN sanctions against North Korea. It was allegedly heading to Russia
Yonhap reports.
It is noted that the 3,000-ton cargo ship DEYI, which was reportedly heading to Russia from North Korea via China, was seized in the waters of Yeosu.
There were 13 people on board, including the Chinese captain and other Chinese and Indonesian crew members.
"Our government is conducting an investigation, in close coordination with the United States, into the concerned vessel's alleged violation of the U.N. Security Council resolutions on North Korea," a South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesperson said.

On April 2, the South Korean government imposed sanctions against two Russian vessels involved in the transportation of military cargo to North Korea, as well as legal entities and individuals involved in financing North Korea's nuclear and missile development.
