Russia needs to send at least 300,000 reservists to southern Ukraine, but cannot even mobilize 100,000 per month – military expert Kovalenko
Now, in order to fully cover the needs in the occupied south of Ukraine, Russian troops need to increase their presence there to 500,000, including 300-350,000 reservists
Military expert Oleksandr Kovalenko shared his assessment with Espreso TV.
"The Russians had a partial mobilization and we remember how it happened. In three months, they gathered about 300,000 personnel. That's 100,000 per month, and there were big problems – there were so many scandals, lack of food, barracks, training grounds, clothing, equipment. Now, to fully meet the needs in the south, Russia needs to increase their presence there to 500,000," he said.
Kovalenko added that they need to send 300-350,000 of some kind of reserve forces there.
"Where do they get it from? They can't gather 100,000 troops a month now. They can start mobilizing or somehow start gathering human resources, but they will not be enough to solve all the issues simultaneously in a very short time. The Russian forces are in a very, very difficult position and are somehow approaching their next decision on the ‘goodwill’ gesture," the expert concluded.
