Russia needs 40,000 troops for repeated offensive from Belarus - AFU officer Lapin
Officer with the Ukrainian Armed Forces Ihor Lapin believes that for a repeated offensive from the territory of Belarus, Russia need to form a strike group of 40,000 troops
He shared his opinions with Espreso TV.
"Belarus and Ukraine are connected by only 13 roads. The joint group of Russian and Belarusian troops cannot launch an offensive advancing through fields and swamps. Because the water is not frozen and heavy equipment will not be able to move. In addition, I believe that today they do not have enough troops to open a second front. For a more or less active offensive on Ukraine, they need to form 40,000 troops," Lapin explained.
The AFU officer noted that the activity of troops on Belarus’ territory forces Ukraine to keep reserves in the North.
"If they dare to invade with less than 40,000 troops, it will create only minimal problems for our army. However, even with such forces they will be able to pull our logistics and reserves to this direction. Belarus will not be able to act independently in this direction. Only in combination with other directions," he added.
