Russia kills at least 10,000 civilians, injure over 13,000 since starting war in Ukraine
Between February 24, 2022 and April 26, 2023, at least 10,000 Ukrainian civilians were killed by the invading Russian forces, and over 13,000 were injured
The Prosecutor General's Office reported this.
At an open hearing of the European Parliament's Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin summarized that more than 80,000 Russian war crimes have been recorded in Ukraine.
“We believe that Ukraine's primary obligation is to end impunity for the most serious crimes. We remain committed to investigating war crimes, the crime of genocide and the crime of aggression. For a long time to come, one of Ukraine's priorities will be to compensate for the damage and destruction caused by Russia. The World Bank estimates the damage at USD 411 billion, and the aggressor must pay,” the Prosecutor General emphasized.
The creation of the International Center for the Prosecution of Crimes of Aggression (ICPA) will help collect and coordinate evidence against those responsible for the preparation and conduct of this aggressive war.
“So far, more than 80,000 war crimes committed by the Russian Federation in Ukraine have been recorded. More than 10,000 civilians have been killed,” emphasized Kostin.
At least 13,000 Ukrainian civilians were reportedly injured.
In addition, more than 98,000 civilian infrastructure facilities were damaged or destroyed by Russia.
