Rosneft is disrupting the delivery deadline for the Rossiya nuclear icebreaker, scheduled for December 2027 - the Russian army bombed a plant in Kramatorsk that was supposed to produce unique parts

Kommersant writes about this.

The cost of the state contract may increase from 128 billion rubles by 40-60% at once. At the same time, the Russian government emphasized the "impossibility of disrupting the deadline".

Rosneft, according to the meeting minutes, explained the need for the cost increase and the postponement by the failure to deliver large body parts, such as the ice tooth, rudder brackets, and outer propeller shaft brackets.

These large parts were supposed to be manufactured by the Energomashspetsstal plant in Kramatorsk, Donetsk Oblast. But Russia bombed the plant last May and happily reported on it.

The contract with the new manufacturer has not yet been signed, and the delivery date for these parts has been tentatively postponed to August 2025.

Delayed delivery of components could significantly shift the overall construction schedule. As of mid-March, only 5% of the total planned work was completed instead of 15%.

"The Rossiya is a 120 MWe icebreaker that is supposed to provide year-round shipping along the Northern Sea Route at a commercial speed of 10-12 knots to export hydrocarbons to foreign markets. First of all, the icebreaker is supposed to ensure year-round LNG exports from NOVATEK's Arctic projects in Yamal and Gydan.
