Putin reacts to delivery of Patriot system to Ukraine
Russian President Vladimir Putin has accepted the provision of Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems to Ukraine, promising to “keep this in mind”
The President of the Russian Federation stated this in a conversation with journalists from the Kremlin pool.
“As for the Patriot, it's a pretty old system, it doesn't work like our S-300. But, nevertheless, those who oppose us proceed from the fact that it's a defensive weapon - and that's fine. We'll just keep it in mind,” Putin said.
According to the leader of the Russian Federation, the promised supply of American air defense systems only prolongs the conflict in Ukraine.
“Those who do this are doing this for nothing. It's just prolonging the conflict - that's all,” Putin said.
On December 21, the US announced the decision to transfer the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine. The Patriot air defense system is known to be capable of shooting down cruise missiles, short-range ballistic missiles, and aircraft at much higher altitudes than air defense systems previously provided to Ukraine.
