Power units of the Khmelnytskyi NPP are disconnected from power grid, all power units of South Ukrainian NPP are stopped in an emergency
Power units of South Ukrainian (Mykolaiv Oblast) and Khmelnytskyi NPP were disconnected from the power system due to shelling across the country
This was reported in Energoatom.
"Today, November 23, 2022, due to a decrease in frequency in the energy system of Ukraine, emergency protection was activated at the Rivne, South Ukrainian and Khmelnytskyi NPPs, as a result of which all power units were automatically disconnected. They are currently operating in project mode, without generation into the domestic power system," he said .
In a comment, the speaker of Energoatom Leonid Oliynyk noted that there is no danger in the shutdown of the NPP.
"This is due to the destruction of networks. Everything is fine with the station. There is nowhere to give out electricity," he said.
Energoatom notes that the radiation background at the NPP sites and adjacent territories has not changed, all indicators are normal. As soon as the operation of the power system is normalized, the supply of electricity from the NPP will be resumed.
"Also, due to a decrease in frequency, the supply of Zaporizhia NPP's own needs from the energy system of Ukraine was stopped. The station went into full blackout mode. All diesel generators are in operation. The radiation background at the ZNPP site remains normal," he added.
